Add-in errors with ALM

Running a Windows 7 SP1 client. Loaded the client side software so can acccess ALM. Went to Add-ins page and installed Word and Excel Add-ins.

I get errors with each add-in as follows.

Word: Compile error in hidden module: mdlGlobal This error occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of the is application. Click "Help" for information on how to correct this error.

Excel: Compile error in hidden module: CTDServer This error occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of the is application. Click "Help" for information on how to correct this error.

I trid the "Help" links which just has you delete the client the software via the ALM Client Unistaller from HP.

After unistall finished, I reloaded client software and same errors repeat.

Easy fix my friend. Go back to the add-ins page and install the HP Quality Center Connectivity Add-in. That will correct the issue.

I'm having the same issue and installing the Connectivity Add-in didn't help. Anyone else resolve this issue? ALM-11 with Windows 7/Office 2K7.,So, I'm having the same issue and installed the Connectivity Add-in didn't help. Anyone else experience this and resolve the issue?

Are you getting the Compile error in hidden module: CTDServer in Excel when trying import to QC? If so, another possible workaround is to ensure that your OTA COM type library is an available reference for your Excel Add-in. To check out, first enable your Developer tab, then open the Visual Basic editor, and click on the VBA Project (TDExcelAddin.xla) and expand it. Password by default should be tdtdtd. Once you click on that, go up to Tools and choose the Reference to get the Available References list in a pop up. Ensure that OTA COM Type Library is among the selected references.

One other item I have read others have had to do, when using an IE client for their QC and with Excel, is to run the Client Registration add-in. I had success without having to do that, but there are many posts online saying that running that add-in can help.

I am having the same issue too.

Would appreciate any help.

Have escalated to HP. ALl they came back with is a clean up tool and instructions to reinstall. I used it but to no avail.

Uninstall HP ALM Excel Add-In resolved this error for me!

Having had issues recently with the Excel add-in, you might try to uninstall the current add-in and then try to obtain a copy of the latest add-in and reinstall it. The latest add-in has changes to it that no longer require the user having administrative acces to install for their currently logged in client. I have discovered that due to the changes of admin priviledges not being required anymore, the add-ins behave differently and have resolved several issues that none of the above suggestions were able to (including solutions offered by HP).

Have you installed ALM Client on your machine?

  1. Run internet explorer as an Administrator.

  2. Login to ALM

  3. Go to Help >> Add-Ins

  4. In the pop up select HP ALM Client Registration

  5. In the bottom of the resulting windows you can see a link Register HP ALM Client.

  6. Wait for the installation to complete.

Note: Running Internet explorer as admin is important for successful installation of ALM Client.
