Getting an “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” error message when I attempt to export to Excel Defect records. I get it when exporting one, a few or even trying “export all”. Saving to different locations does not matter. To add, I am an admin on the system so there is no issues writing to anywhere as well as I am a project admin in ALM.

HP has a solution in their KM article KM00515557. Issue is due to a missing registry value in Office. Manually adding it in should resolve the problem.
Go to Run and enter "regedit"
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\LanguageResources\
If the InstallLanguage registry is not available then it has to be recreated.
Right Click on "LanguageResources" and go to "New" -> "DWORD Value"
Name it as "InstallLanguage"
Edit the entry and set the value as "1033".
If the above does not help, try to create a 1033 directory under the Microsoft Office\Office1x directory then copy excel.exe to the 1033 directory and rename it to xllex.dll (if it does not already exist).
