I have a requirement to setup a temporary lab instance in a VM to test QC with a load balancer option.

What, How, Recommendations, etc.

Fuzzy,
I am attaching the high level outline to create your test environment.
Again, this IS not a comprehensive list of steps. Instead the purpose is to give you an outline of items to accomplish while setting up ALM in a Network Load Balancer environment.

I appreciate your help on this. We now have a working environment to test ALM in a Load Balanced environment. The video examples regarding NLB and DNS were very helpful and gave me enough information to ask the right questions to the system administrator. Thanks Again!

Don't fret, pretty simple really after you go through the setup a it a few times.

No, in Windows 2008 you will need to place the Load Balancer on a server by itself. See my Diagram.
