Compatibility Issues with ALM and the Windows 10 Creator Update
Question ID: 107667

I have recently upgraded my Windows OS to v1703 (Creator Update) and I can no longer successfully login to ALM v12.53. The application produces the login screen, accepts my ID and password, and goes into the app just fine. A few moments later a blue screen appears and my laptop restarts automatically kicking me out of ALM and all of the other apps that were open.

Unfortunately, the Windows 10 creator update is currently not supported by ALM. I have reached out to HPE regarding this issue, and they are currently unable to provide a time frame as to when it will be supported. They advised however, that their R&D team is researching different issues caused by the incompatibility between ALM and the Windows 10 creator update. HPE advises that the Windows 10 creator update is causing the .NET applications to crash the OS. Their R&D team is treating this as a high priority issue, and they are working to get the issue resolved as soon as possible. In the mean time, we recommend that you hold off on installing the Windows 10 creator update until it is supported. I will post an update when HPE advises that the creator update is supported by ALM.

I have received an update on the Windows 10 Creators Update fix. Microsoft has released a fix for Windows 10 64 Bit Creators Update, enabling you to work with the ALM Desktop Client after installing this fix. For details, click the following link:

Hello @NBK - The link that I had previously posted will take you to a Microsoft page where you were able to click a link to download the update that resolved the issue. Microsoft has advised that the update mentioned in the previous post is no longer available, and has been replaced by a newer update. It is recommended that you install the most current cumulative update to resolve this issue. You can visit the page where the update can be found by clicking the following hyperlink. I hope this helps resolve your issue.
