”License Server is unavailable” with AutoPass 10.5.1
Question ID: 108590

I recently upgraded HP AutoPass License Server in our development environment from version 9.0 to version 10.5.1. I followed the Same Host Upgrade instructions, backing up the data folder, uninstalling 9.0, installing 10.5.1, and copying the appropriate backed-up data folder items to the new data folder location. The HP AutoPass License Server service was started successfully, I was able to successfully log into the AutoPass License Server via IE like before, and all previous configurations and license key references were as they had been prior to the upgrade. All looked good.

I then tried to reference the server from UFT and got the license error "Either the license server host is not found on the network or an invalid host name is specified." This was from an install of UFT that was successfully accessing the server before the upgrade. I am at a loss as to what is wrong. Please help.

I followed RickJames’ Jul 31 at 08:14 PM response to a similar question and edited the server.xml file to re-enable TLSv1 and v1.1 but that didn’t solve the problem.[link text][1]

The AutoPass License Server Migration guide from Micro Focus and my upgrade notes are attached for reference.

Thanks, Brent Zimmerman

Bingo... he's not listening. Restarting service did not help. Faulty Microsoft patching to blame. Restarted server and 5814 now listening. Thanks for guidance.

Hey @blzimmerman,

I just performed a clean install of APLS 9.0 (grabbed from the UFT 12.52 full installer), installed my license, confirmed my UFT clients could connect, then upgraded to 10.5.1 and kept my data.

Ran into the ''license server is not available'' error on the clients, as expected. Modifying the server.xml like you did indeed fixed the issue.

So, I'm wondering if perhaps the problem is that you do not have TCP port 5814 open between your new APLS 10.5.1 machine and your UFT clients?

Check out this other article, perform the steps on your UFT *client* machines specifying your *new* APLS 10.5.1 machine in PortQueryUI, and see what the result shows. It needs to be LISTENING.

Let me know how it goes.

(Also, I don't believe the 32-bit vs. 64-bit installers should have any bearing...you definitely want to match the architecture of your server machine.)
