Sprinter and mirroring restriction of same user account override?

In Sprinter, when doing mirroring testing, we often like to use pre-configured workstations with different browser settings, resolutions and the like. All our machines are Windows 7, 64 bit machines, but a lot of the local settings are different to replicate settings different users might have set.

Many times these machines have set users and we can't be the "same" user on them as mirroring seems to require for secondary machine run.

Is there a way to override this limitation?

Hello,

Yes there is, as per the user guide: Sprinter prevents mirroring when the process user on the primary machine and the logged in user on the secondary machine are not the same. To allow mirroring without authentication, set the ProtectSessions flag in Sprinter.exe.config, located in the product's bin folder, to false on the secondary machine.

For Win7, 64 bit, the bin folder above is typically found here for a regular installation of Sprinter: C:Program Files (x86)HPSprinterbin

Just open the Sprinter.exe.config in notepad and you can edit the flag, save it, and then reopen sprinter.

I understood that we suppose to have sprinter on all machine(s) i.e. Secondary mechine(s) as well?

Yes to mirror Sprinter must be installed on each machine and have the Sprinter Agent running per machine.

For latest version of Sprinter (12.52), IE, Firefox and Chrome are supported. With mirroring, each machine that mirrors the primary can then run any of the supported browsers during a test run. Primary could run any of the supported browsers. Secondary could run the any of the three. Does that answer your question?

Let me correct my question.
'' If I cant use Virtual machines for some limitations. In that case can i use several browers for mirroring on The same machine ( primary machine). Or any other recommded way or tool to do this?
Further, can i use other machine ( real machines on network) for mirroring?

May be my question sounds crazy but some reasons i can not use Virtual machines

Sprinter uses an agent. The agent can run one browser. To mirror to other browsers, they must be complete Sprinter installs on the other machines, whether real or VM. Essentially per machine you would have one install of Sprinter and one browser to test on. As long as on network and the machines can talk to each other via IP address, then the machine can be used (provide you install Sprinter on it).
