When running Sprinter test, get error A Run session cannot be started. HP ALM reported an unspecified error.

Recently installed Sprinter.

Tested out using my admin account for a project. No issues recording tests, setting up applications, running scanners and running tests. Was able to do defects, save images, all of it.

Same actions on same machine, but logged into ALM from Sprinter via a different user gives me error for trying to run a test. Initializing Run windows comes up, with percentage at 0% and then comes the error pop up from ALM.

I have checked per the guide that the user group has all the required permissions for the user group. All areas have all the checks, for resources, tests, runs, all of it is accurate.

Unsure then what is off for the other user group vs the admin one.

Hello,

As admin group user works, assuming this is a tadmin user. And given the other group does not, would like assume there is some issue then within the group.

Suggest you create a new user group, use tadmin as the base and remove down permissions but be sure you keep the required Sprinter ones checked.

We have seen user groups get corrupt from upgrades, patch installs, and other aspects. It just happens where even if checked, some permissions don't actually act as if checked. Fix is to recreate the group using tadmin.

While HPE documentation doesn't really stress this, you should moving forward use tadmin as the base for any custom group creation. Yes it is a little more work to edit down permissions, but worth it to reduce these types of errors and unexpected behaviors that might show up down the road.

Yes! New user group does not seem to have any issues. Very telling. The user group is older and has been around since prior ALM version. Guess what you say is true, it carried over something incorrect.
