Getting error “failed to set java path” in ALM 15.5.1 patch 1 install

Hello All,

We are getting the following error during our install of ALM 15.5.1 patch 1: “failed to set java path”. We have tried numerous things and nothing seems to resolve the issue. We are using Windows AD authentication throughout the system and have been with all the other versions we have used throughout the years. Any insight into what is causing this error?

Hi HomerJ,

Yes I have seen this issue before. It is a reproducible and known issue within your particular patch and version level of ALM. R & D is aware of the issue and they state it will be corrected in patch 2. However in the meantime what we have found through testing is that as a workaround it was required by the Microfocus engineers involved to avoid the following - '>', '<' ,'|',''',""", "&" special characters. Those special characters can change the behavior of the ALM installation scripts during time of finalization and it results in the error you are receiving.

Hope this helps,

Dan
