12.53 Installation – ”permissions” issue upgrading qcsiteadmin with Oracle ”System” user

Installing 12.53, and have migrated a previous QCSITEADMIN_DB (Oracle 12c) , the installation acts like it doesn’t have proper privileges to the oracle schema. The error it gives in the detailed log file is:

No permissions to ‘[CREATE SESSION, CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE TRIGGER, CREATE SEQUENCE, CREATE VIEW, CREATE TABLE]

No permissions to ‘[SELECT ANY TABLE]’

I’ve verified that this is not the case. We are using the "System" user in Oracle as the QC "Database Admin" — this user has ALL rights/roles/privileges and should be able to do ANYTHING!

Yes, this is a BUG that only shows up with the combination of 12.55, Oracle 12c, and using the specific user ''System'' as the QC/ALM ''db admin user'' -- I know, I use it all the time on my test ALM loads.

Although the install guide says you can use the ''system'' user, it also suggests that you can create a separate ''qc_admin_db'' (or ''qc_db_admin'') user and grant various admin rights/roles to it with the ''grant'' option enabled on most of them (so it can grand further down to the various project schema-users.

The ''qc_admin_db'' user directions have been in the QC/ALM user guide for many versions going back to at QC10.
