A problem occurred when attempting to contact the server error in ALM?

Hello
We are experiencing the following error in out ALM server log for only one project:
CSequenceManager.getMultipleCurrentSequenceValues(309) Exception in getting sequence value
java.sql.SQLException

Messages:
[Mercury][SQLServer JDBC Driver]A problem occurred when attempting to contact the server (Server returned: Software caused connection abort: recv failed). Please ensure that the server parameters passed to the driver are correct and that the server is running. Also ensure that the maximum number of connections have not been exceeded for this server. Failed SQL: /* ~~QC */ SELECT SQ_SEQ_NAME,SQ_SEQ_VALUE FROM SEQUENCES WHERE SQ_SEQ_NAME IN (/*P*/’TRAN_RULES_VERSION’,/*P*/’LISTS_VERSION’,/*P*/’USERS_VERSION’,/*P*/’TBR_PROJECT_TEMPLATES_VERSION’,/*P*/

What can we do to resolve this issue?

Hi HomerJ,
This issue is related to the number of connections as per KM03151741. Within that document the fix is stated as this:

''To fix it you can increase the Maximum DB connections set on the SQL Server itself.

Also consider decreasing the value set in ALM side> Site Admin> Servers> Max. Database Connections to 20 (default).

In some cases having earlier Windows Server OS (i.e. 2003), there might be needed to modify the port range available on the ALM server as instructed here: KM00980528''

This should resolve the issue and you should no longer see the error message generated within the logs.
