ALM/QC-Synchronizer cannot create new links

I just took over for our other Synchronizer Administrator (he left the company).
Existing links work fine, but when I try to create a new one, I get an error.
The endpoint setup goes fine (connectivity checks out). the last step of creating the link (step 4) asks about "entity types". After selecting "defect" for both (in my case), it starts to save the link and fails with:

HP ALM Synchronizer: ERROR
General error occurred.

Details:

ERROR #1- server.DB.FAILED_EXECUTE_QUERY : Failed to execute SQL statement INSERT INTO USERS_LINKS (USER_NAME, LINK_ID) VALUES (‘Admin’,601).

ERROR #2- ERROR: insert or update on table "users_links" violates foreign key constraint "users_links_user_name_fkey"
Detail: Key (user_name)=(Admin) is not present in table "users".

Any ideas?

GoBroncos,

There is a known quirk of ALM Synchronizer with the ''admin'' or ''Admin'' login.

Out of the box, it starts out with the suggested (already stored in the Postgres back-end DB of QC-sync) user ''admin'' <--- **lower-case ''a''.** You can actually login as either ''admin'' or ''Admin'' and it will validate using the same password... but for some reason ''Admin'' will not allow creation of links. So... **always login as ''admin''** or as a newly created administrative user. It looks to be case sensitive based on the user name that was created, but not during validation.

I changed it to ''admin'' when logging in. Now it lets me create a link! How strange that it validates ''Admin'' with the same password. thanks!
