Automating Manual Test Cases
Question ID: 104354

I have told my users that it is not possible to introduce Logic into manual Test cases. For example, populating the parameters of a test case based upon the resulting parameters from a previous case.

Am I correct in this assumption or are there scripting methods that would allow this?

Thanks,
Gary

I think it depends on what you are using for your manual test cases and where your results are located. If you are using Excel, you can program it to fetch data from a database. I think you can also have it fetch data from other spreadsheet files too, but I'm not sure. I'm no Excel wizard, but I've seen these types of things done before.

A good automation engineer can pass results from one test to another with ease. There are several ways to do this. Saving results in database, Excel, or even text files.

I Agree but OP is try to Automate Parameters in a manual test. So I do manual test 1 and then use the data I generated in manual test 1 in manual test 2. I think this may be able to happen in ALM I would have to check on that though
