Data Hiding empty folders

I am trying to use data hiding for users to limit access to certain folders in Test Plan. When I hide a specific folder, all folders within that contain no test cases are hidden. Is there a fix or work around available?

You can show the empty folders by adding the below site parameter in the Site Admininstrator - Site Configuration tab. Unfortunately, this will show all empty folders and not only those filtered by the Data Hiding Filter. This is something that HP has as an outstanding defect and looking to resolve in a future patch. Alternately, In order to show all folders included in the filter and no others, you would need to make sure that you add a test to a folder before leaving the view.
