We currently use Oracle in our ALM instance, recent security changes have our DBA’s wanting to revoke the access of the "schema users" for the ALM project schemas and replace those users with a system account with the same access, wil this cause any issue with the ALM application?

They CANNOT under any circumstances do this, this will break ALM and it WILL NOT WORK. ALM ALWAYS uses the ''schema user'' as user name, and there is NO WAY to change this. Changing the Oracle user related to the various schemas would require an ARCHITECTURAL change to the product.
It is currently not designed to work the way you ask, and your request is not in the roadmap.
