To change the data retention period for metrics

i. Log in to the Controller Administration Console.

If you have a saas controller this will not be possible as you are not the admin. AppDynamics is the admin and you will need to contact them directly.

ii. Click Controller Settings.

iii. Change the data retention period by modifying the values for the following settings and saving. The settings are:

1. metrics.min.retention.period
a. The number of hours 1-minute data will be retained in hours. This value should always be less than the value for metrics.ten.min.retention.period.
b. Default: 4 hours

2. metrics.ten.min.retention.period
a. The number of hours 10-minute data will be retained in hours. This value should always be greater than the value for metrics.min.retention.period and less than metrics.retention.period.
b. Default: 48 hours

3. metrics.retention.period
a. The number of days 1-hour data will be retained in days. This value should always be greater than the value for metrics.ten.min.retention.period.
b. Default: 365 days
