Issue with copy defect and mail that is sent

There is some copying issue in the ALM tool because of which every time we copy an existing defect to create a new one (so that we don’t have to reenter the project details), it sends an email to the developer with the old defect details. This is creating some confusion because even when we have updated the new details in the defect, the mail sent to developers contains the old details.

Are you using the automail feature??? I ran into this a while back where when the user copied and pasted the defect it triggered an email to be sent to the ''Assigned To'' user. Are the project details that you are trying to retain static ( The same for every copy ) if so what I had my users do was to create a template defect that had all the project information entered but no Assigned To user selected and this resolved the issue.
