LDAP timing out issue with ALM Authentication?

Hello All,

We seem to be having an issue where the LDAP times out during periods of inactivity. What we are discovering is that we are using a VIP LDAP load balancer and over night or the weekend where the ALM services aren’t being used the LDAP seems to time out. Restarting the server fixes the issue, but restarting just the ALM Services doesn’t resolve it.

Any ideas what we may be up against?

Hi HomerJ,
I have seen this in past a few times. Every time I have encountered it on the newer versions (ALM 12.21 and newer), setting up multiple LDAP servers within the settings seems to resolve the issue. (see this post for reference: http://eyeontesting.com/questions/16565/ldap-timing-out-intermittently-in-alm.html ).

I have also encountered it directly before with a VIP LDAP load balance as you mentioned and in that case the security team for the client wanted the address for the VIP LDAP entered and it seemed to time out, By just entering the multiple LDAP server URLS into the settings instead of VIP balancer resolved the issue. i would recommend attempting that in your instance and see if that helps.
