Do we have any solution for this? This is now been set as a group policy and is stopping all ALM access

The Internet Explorer Protected Mode is a feature that by it's design blocks scripting from executing in the browser. Unfortunately, ALM/QC requires that ActiveX scripting be allowed to run through the browser. Therefore, the Protected Mode directly conflicts with the nature of the ALM/QC client. Possible solutions may be to run IE as an adminstrator (this will bypass Protected Mode) or you may have success using the ALM Explorer Add-in from the ALM Tools page. There unfortunately isn't a method to have the ActiveX client run when Protected Mode is blocking it

By default protected mode is disabled for the trustee zone. If your group policy has maintained this default then by adding your ALM into the trusted zone should be a work around to get ALM/QC working on your systems.
