QC email links opening in Firefox

We are working with emailed test cases and have an issue. Looking at the received email, you can click on an imbedded link which should launch IE and take you back to the test in ALM/QC. For some reason when we click that link it always tries to open FireFox, even when IE is the default browser. We have tried everything and all of the defaults are set to IE, the only way we have found to fix the problem so far is to uninstall all other browsers with the exception of IE. This is not acceptable on our test machines however, I know this is most likely a windows issue, has anyone else experienced this?

You might want to take a look at the Windows Registry to see what is registered to handle htm, html, etc. It may still be pointing to Firefox. There are some in-depth things you can try regarding the associated application handling web links:

OP Rich Text is correct sometimes the Windows Registry can get messed up and some web links are not handled correctly. I have had this issue on my machine and have seen it happen on others. Go to the link below and click fix it, download the executable and run this on the machine. This fixes the registry entries so that the links open once again in IE.
