QTP recognition issue

I’m having an issue with QTP 10.0. Whenever I try to record actions in IE8 the only things recorded are the opening and closing of browsers. QTP isn’t recording any actions that are done on websites. Any ideas?

I figured it out. When clicking record i missed the "record on any windows apps" radio button. Nvm. This did not fix the issue.

A few things to try: Make sure you have the latest patches for QTP and IE8. Select the "Enable 3rd party extensions" option under Tools --> Advanced section in IE8 If using Windows Vista/Windows 7, see if turning off UAC helps: Control Panel, choose User Accounts Change Security Settings. Clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box and click OK. (You may need to log on as a local admin to accomplish this) Lastly, you might try right clicking on IE8's icon to launch it, and select "Run As Administrator".

Check and make sure you have all the correct Add-Ins being loaded. You should have at least the web add-in, plus any other technologies you are dealing with. If you don't get the Add-In Manager when you open QTP, go to File->Settings and on the Properties tab, check the Associated add-ins box and Modify as needed.

ONLY load the add-ins that you need.

If you want the Add-Ins Manager to appear when loading QTP, go to Tools-> Options and on the General tab you can select the box to Display Add-in Manager on Startup.

Another thing to do is make sure you open the browser AFTER QTP is loaded.
