When I am installing QTP 10 I get the message ‘StringReplacer has stopped working’. I have two options check on line and close program. I just closed the window and QTP installs. The problem is that I can not record or play back on IE scripts.

I have seen this problem before. This could be a permissions issue with one of the prerequisites (.NET 2.0, MSI 3.1, Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable). I would recommend going to the QTP Install media and manually install them. The Prerequisites can be found on the install media at QuickTestENprerequisites. I my case the MS Debugger was causing the problem and I had to reload it. The debugger can be found at this link:

Another option this could be is related to your Antivirus. Recommend turning off Antivirus and try to install again.
