Tableau Desktop not functioning correctly when Installed along side MicroFocus UFT

I wanted to share a problem that I came across when having both MicroFocus UFT installed on the same computer as Tableau Desktop. It all started after installing Tableau Desktop on a machine that currently had UFT already on it.

After opening Tableau Desktop I was unable to interact with the tabs at the bottom of the screen. I could not add a new sheet, dashboard, or story. I was also unable to click between multiple tabs after opening a saved workbook and it was extremely frustrating.

After a lot of troubleshooting and research I came across discussions regarding the QT add-in of UFT and its interaction with Tableau Desktop. When I installed UFT I chose to install all of the add-ins. Apparently because of the way the QT add-in of UFT works it causes problems with the way that Tableau Desktop works. I first uninstalled UFT completely to see if it was the potential culprit. After uninstalling UFT, Tableau Desktop worked fine. I use both UFT and Tableau Desktop so I would need to be able to have both installed at the same time.

I do not actively use the QT add-in for UFT so when I reinstalled UFT I did not select the QT add-in for installation. Once UFT was reinstalled without the QT add-in, I no longer had the issues not being able to click on the tabs at the bottom of Tableau Desktop. I have not come across a work around for cases where people who use the QT add-in of UFT but thankfully for now I have been able to get both applications to work together. I will update should I find any potential work around for cases where the QT add-in needs to be used.
