Too many clicks to open a screenshot – IE/Windows “forgets” preferred app for extension

When opening a screenshot it always asks How do you want to open this file? I leave the default which is Photos. I always click the box Always use this app to open .png files; however, every time I go to open a screenshot it always asks. I open too many screenshots during test events and it slows me down.

I have tried associating PNG and JPG with "Photos" app, and they open just fine when clicked from the desktop or containing folder, so it is something about ALM, I think.

This seems to be a MicroSoft issue related to a quirk in Internet Explorer, not really ALM.  Explorer has "tentacles" everywhere in Windows and ALM relies on it to work.

This thread refers to Outlook/Office, but the same issue you are having related to Explorer (as in Internet Explorer).

The "best response" is a solution where you "hack" the Windows 10 registry to stop it from "nagging" you about the app to use for JPG and PNG files.

If you try that, I suggest saving the registry or at lease the section you are editing first.

I suppose you could also try the "ALM Explorer" or the ALM "Client Launcher" to see if hey work any differently launching the "viewer" for PNG/JPG.
