Installed Excel add-in for version 12.53, to go with my ALM 12.53, and am getting an error when trying to connect to ALM from Excel. I have the ALM client via IE, which works fine. When I try to connect from Excel, I put in the same ALM URL I do from IE, manually typed in, and I get error seen below:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the add-in. Have the connectivity add-in installed, along with client registration. Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime is installed, along with .Net 4.5.2. Out of ideas then on what could be the issue here.

Hello,

In a HPE forum post, detailing same error, one commenter posted a bit about LAN settings. Turns out that is a pretty valuable bit of insight as those settings can be a factor.

Open IE, click on Tools menu, and then open the Internet Options. Then click on the Connections tab under Internet Options pop up windows. Next click on the LAN settings to bring up another pop up.

See if you have set either ''use automatic configuration script'' or ''Proxy server'' settings. If you use the configuration script, see if you can remove the check for that and then try Excel add-in login again. If you use a proxy, when you run the Excel add-in ALM login connect, at bottom of the screen is an option to ''Show Proxy Settings''. Display those and see if you can clear out the settings. If you can, clear them and try your ALM login again. Both of the above have been methods to get around the URL error for ALM login from Excel.

We do in fact use proxy settings for our IE for outside web access. I did as you suggested, expanded the view for them under the excel login popup, and removed the settings there. After that it connected to ALM just fine. No more error. Thank you.
