Unable to install ALM using Windows AD authentication of SQL database

Hello all,

We have been unable to install ALM version 15.5.1 patch 1 onto our Windows Server 2019 VM using Windows AD authentication to the SQL database. We are continually getting the “failed to verify parameters” during the authentication stage for the db server during the installation. We are migrating a previous qcsiteadmin_db from the currently running production version of ALM we have (it is version 12.60 if that makes a difference) that is using Windows AD authentication. Is there something we are missing or is there a bug in the software?

Thanks,

HomerJ

Hi HomerJ,

This is a known issue with SQL 2019, Windows 2019, ALM 15.5.1 patch 1, and the use of special characters in the username and/or password for the Windows Account authenticating specifically. In the past I had to run SQL queries against the database schemas to transform them from Windows Authentication and make them SQL Authentication for a client and then we were able to get around the issue. You can do this or make sure that you changed your username and password to avoid special character usage. As a workaround it is required to avoid the following - '>', '<' ,'|',''',""", "&" . Those characters can change the behavior of the ALM installation scripts.”
