wexectrl.exe crashing on Windows 7 Automatic Runner

We are currently trying to run automated scripts from Quality Center connecting to machines that have QTP installed. When we click run the automatic runner is freezing 90% of the time and the wexectrl.exe process has to be stopped in windows. Is there any way to fix this?

BTW we are using QC10 and QTP 11

This is a known problem with the wexectrl.exe process and Windows 7. This has been fixed in later patches of QC 10 and ALM 11. However if you are not in a position to upgrade your patch level here is a workaound to stop the freezing:

Find where QC 10 is installed:

C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesMercury InteractiveQuality Center (if installed through browser)

C:Program Files (x86)HPQuality Center Client Side (If installed by MSI)

Open the directory and find the file ''wexectrl.exe'' right click the file and select properties then click the compatibility tab then click the checkbox ''Run this program in compatibility mode for'' and select ''Windows XP (Service Pack 2)'' then click ''apply'' then ''ok''

Thanks, this works, I am going to eventually upgrade to a newer patch, but this is keeping the process from freezing for now.
