What does a generated client MSI support for ALM?

Hello,
We have created a client MSI to push to all of our users for ALM12.21 and we have been using Internet Explorer 9 and we are switching to Internet Explorer 11. Is there anything special that we need to do or do we need to recreate the client MSI and such it out to the users again?

Thanks,
HomerJ

Hello HomerJ,
Because you are running ALM 12.2x, those two versions of IE are supported with all builds/patches of that version. You build the MSI from the patch and everything that is needed in the patch should be built into it. Therefor when deployed to the client you should have everything necessary to run with IE 11 installed already. I have never encountered a case where this was not the standard outcome. The worst is that depending on the client you may have to redeploy the MSI to the local system to get it to work, but there is no option when building the MSI to select the browser being used therefor all the necessary components should have been included in the MSI build you are currently using for both IE9 and IE11. Now if you increased/changed the patch on the ALM server then you would need to build a new MSI because of the patch change, but this shouldn't affect the browser being used currently or moving to a new browser.

Hope this helps,
Dan
