Is there a way to run the tests in the background?

One problem I’m starting to have with the QTP install on my PC (the client) is that if I’m running automated tests, I really can’t do other work. Is there a way to run the tests in the background?

I seem to recall that it’s possible to have 2 or more desktops with Windows… I can’t remember the name of the software but something where you can switch from one desktop to another. Would something like that work? Is there a tool out there you’d recommend?

No there is no easy way to have QTP run in the back ground because QTP has to interact with applications using Keyboard and mouse controls. Couple of things that other customer have done is get second machine or create an virtual image with tools like VMWare to run test. The other thing people do is run test at night while away from work by scheduling them with QC or test batch runner.
