Have you tried using the Object Spy? Is the index value a normal part of the object, or do you mean the index value when used as an ordinal in the Object Repository? If it's a normal property that is set for the object by the developers, take a look at the native properties (using the radio button in the Object Spy) to see if it shows up there.

If you are trying to find out the ordinal, you probably will want to create a temporary script and record the object (or objects) and then look at the index value that was set by UFT. If you are not seeing one, you might take a look at the object identification settings for the object class and see what the ordinal is set to and change it to index if it is not set and then record/investigate again.
