ALM v12.01 – Upgrade Existing Schema

We are upgrading to ALM v12.01.
In prior versions, there used to be a way to select upgrade existing schema.
There is an option to update a copy of the existing schema.
Is there a way to upgrade the existing schema instead of a copy?

This was removed to protect us from from a corrupted database during an upgrade so that we could rollback quickly and try again.
If the existing schema name is qcsiteadmin_db use a name that is meaningful. For example the v12.01 schema name qcsiteadmin_v1201_db.

I understand but is there a workaround to upgrade the existing schema directly?
