Concurrent license check is very slow

We have our QTP Licenses served from the Functional Test License server. When we open QTP, it takes a very long time (like 3 minutes!) for it to check the add-in licenses. It does eventually open, but it should not take this long. We do have LSHOST environment variable set to the host machine.

Anyone have ideas how to get this to speed up??? Thanks in advance for any help.

When you install QTP, a system environment variable is created. The normal variable is LSHOST. Change the variable name from LSHOST to LSFORCEHOST. Also if you have a LSERVRC system environment varible recommend remove this variable because it is used for named license.

Also make sure the value is an IP address and not a named of server if possible. Some companies do not want you to use IP Address because server might change it address but not its name.

Thanks for the suggestions. Those weren't the problem, though. See my answer....

Turns out Symantec Antivirus Network Scan was causing the slowdown. We turned that off and it immediatley made it work much faster! Down from several minutes to several seconds.
