I see HP has release LEAN FT and I am bit confused. Do I have to convert to LEAN FT?

No, you do not have to convert UFT tests to LeanFT. LeanFT is another tool that Testers and developers can use to test AUTs. There are some case that you might want to consider using LeanFT over using UFT.

LeanFT is an SDK that can be used from within Visual Studio and Eclipse. It supports writing test automation in c# and java, leveraging functionality (like the object repository) that originated in UFT. The scripts are not interchangeable between UFT and LeanFT since they are written in different languages. Also, LeanFT does not support all the same technologies as UFT can through add-ins.
