Failed to post simple key entity error for OTA API script
Question ID: 105907

Using OTA API code to try and create business components in a project. In one project, the code works fine. Edit the code to login to the other project plus a few edits for the business component to be added to the second project, and I get a "failed to post simple key entity" message.

The edits are just for where to connect and for the text of the ID, etc. The core code is not changing. Unsure then why I am getting an error for one project and not another.

Hello,

Failed to post Simple key entity can relate to a few things so it can be a bit hard to track the cause of the issue down.

However a first guess would be to see if the project you can't post to has version control enabled. If so, you will be required to have code to check out the entity first, update, save, then check in the item.

Let me know if that might be your issue as I have seen that be the case for your exact error message a few times in the past. If not, will need to probably look to the qc logs and see what is listed exactly to find further details.

It is a version controlled project. We don't have code in play for the check out so your solution makes sense. Thanks.
