HI,
I was wondering how I can change the log level within my instance of ALM/QC to a gain more or less information than is currently supplied by the current setting (I believe it is the default setting we have)?

Thanks,

HI HomerJ,

In order to change the log level for your ALM/ QC instance you would need to have access to the site admin. Perform the following:

1) Log into Site Admin
2) Select the ''Servers'' tab
3) Select the server from the list on the left side
4) On the right side you will see various log file sections labeled ''Client Log File Settings'', ''Site Administration Log File Settings'', (and possibly ''Project and Planning Log File Settiings'' if your verision allows it).
5) click on any of the hypertext ''Log Level'' links for the desired section to elevate.
6) in the pop up window select the desired log level ''Warning'' is the default setting
7) Click the OK button

The log level is now increased for that particular section. Note that the ''Debug'' setting is the hhighest level and will log every action executed on the server.

Note the ''Log File Location'' link as within the box that follows will be where the log file is written to (generally the default is within on the APP server itself, unless during setup a different location was selected).

You will only want to elevate the log level during actions to gather specific information for troubleshooting purposes as the log file can grow quite large very quickly.

Hope this helps,
Dan
