Hi,
We would like to change the TD and DB admin password on our system but were unable to find any documentation regarding it. Is there a procedure to change it?

Thanks,
HomerJ

HI HomerJ,

Although changing these passwords is not recommended it is easily accomplished in the later version of ALM. Here is a basic step guide to help you through the changing of your passwords (as with all things it is recommended that everything be backed up prior to attempting this and it is done at your own risk and certain steps may not be exact depending on your DB version, App server OS, ALM/QC version and license level):

This procedure I am detailing will change both the DB Administrator user password and the Application Lifecycle Management (or Quality Center depending on the license level, Enterprise or Premier, of software that you have on your system) user password.

This procedure I am detailing will change both the DB Administrator user password and the Application Lifecycle Management (or Quality Center depending on the license level, Enterprise or Premier, of software that you have on your system) user password.

1) Makes Sure that all users are out of the system, everything is checked in and a maintenance window is scheduled as services will need to be stopped and restarted (as will all actions like this it is proceed at your own risk and HP recommends that you have a current back ups available should something occur during the process).

2) Log into the Site Admin UI

3) Select the DB Tab

4) Highlight the DB user in the left page to get the right pane populated

5) Click the DB User password link in the right pane

6) Type the new password in the ''Password'' and ''Confirm Password'' boxes

7) Click the ''OK'' button to commit the password changes, close that box, and and see a new pop-up box that the password was correctly changed.

8) Click the ''OK'' button

9) Click the Quality Center (or Application Lifecycle Management depending on license level) user password link in the right pane (this is what is commonly known as the TD user

10) Type the new password in the ''Password'' and ''Confirm Password'' boxes

11) Click the ''OK'' button to commit the password changes and see a new pop-up box that the password was correctly changed.

12) Click the ''OK'' button

13) A pop up box will appear warning that it will deactivate the projects associated with the TD user and change the password

14) Click the ''OK'' button

15) see a new pop-up box that the password was correctly changed.

16) Click the ''OK'' button

17) Log out of ALM/QC

18) Stop the Services

19) Have your DB change the password for the TD user first and then the DB admin user (they are within the Security and then Login folder hierarchy.

20) After the DBA has changed the passwords for those user, Run the ''HP ALM Configuration Wizard'' (this will change the siteadmin.xml for the new passwords and redeploy so everything is is sync and works correctly).

21) Keep the ''Yes, Keep all current settings'' option selected and click ''Next'' at the bottom of the page

22) Continue to click ''Next'' until you arrive at the ''Database Server'' page.

23) At the bottom Under the ''Database Administrator login'' section type the new password into the ''Db Admin password'' box

24) Click the ''Next'' button (if successfully changed and the password is correct it should authenticate and move tot the next screen, if not an error will be presented and the passwords don't match, retype with the correct password).

25) The next page will be the ''Site Administration Database Schema'' page and you will keep the ''connect to the existing schema/second node'' option and type the TD user password into the ''Schema password'' box.

26) Click the ''Next'' button (if successfully changed and the password is correct it should authenticate and move tot the next screen, if not an error will be presented and the passwords don't match, retype with the correct password)

27) You should now be able to hit ''Next'' and continue through until the ''Apply Configuration'' page appears and everything is redeployed.

28) Everything should correctly deploy and th

I tried this option but on File Repository Path screen I am getting error - ''Mismatch between the parameters of the first node and the current node. Check the following: This repository is being used by another cluster at the same time.''

Sachin85,

You will need to disconnect the second node, change them on the first and then disconnect the first node and change on the second, the same as if you were doing the 2 installs. Unless an operational need exists for such change we would recommend against such a change. Since you are on a cluster environment yours requires 2 changes, one to the first node and another to the second node to insure that they remain in sync.

Thanks,
Dan
