I am trying to set up an alert action in AppDynamics to get a text message and or an email.

To receive an email alert if a business transaction crosses a predetermined threshold:

Under Alert & Respond -> Actions -> ''+'' to create an action

This opens the Create Action window.
Here you can choose the type of notification:
Send an email and/or Send an SMS message;

Select the email option and click ''OK''

Type the email address in the window that pops up and click save. This creates the action to trigger the alert

Go to Alert & Respond -> Policies -> ''+'' to create a policy

Here you can choose the Health Rule Violation Event or Other Event. Then choose What Health Rules? Here you can choose a specific health rule. ''Business Transaction response time is much higher than normal'', for example

Click Next to choose the action to trigger.
You can then type the message you want included in the email or SMS message.
