How does UFT Object Repository Identify things?

I see the object repository has a lot of options like Descriptions, Visual Relation Identify, Smart, and Ordinal how does it use all of these? Do I need to use them?

If you go to the UFT Help and look for ''Object identification process workflow'' you will see how UFT uses the Descriptions attributes. Then if it can not find the right object then it goes to the Visual Relations Id, then Smart ID, and last Ordinal.
