Installing of QuickTest Professional (QTP) hangs

I am having problems installing QTP 10.0, the installation hangs at "Registering Modules" and never will progress. There are notes on another site to go to the task manager and kill a process to get the install complete. I do not want to kill the process for every machine I have to install. There has to be a better solution.

There are couple things you can try if the install locks up or stalls.

  1. Check to see if you are local administrator while doing the installing.
  2. Disable anti virus during the install. This has fixed my problem
    in the past.
  3. Check the status of Data Execution
    Prevention (DEP)
  4. Check to see if you have a good downloaded version of QuickTest Professional. Check it with an MD5.
