Moving repository to a file share in ALM?

Hello,
We were told by a consultant that for our particular setup if we were to move our repository to a file share that we would get better resolution and performance from our current installation.

What we were wondering is how we would go about moving to a file share as was suggested as we haven’t seen the steps documented to perform this. Could someone give us and idea of what we would need to do to perform this move and what would it entail?

Thanks,
HomerJ

Hi HomerJ,
The procedure that you would use to move the repository to a shared drive would require that you perform the following within SIteAdmin (in this order and you will need admin priveleges to perform these):
*Deactivate the project
*Remove the project from the Project's list (within the Site Projects Tab (remove and do not delete as that will remove the entire repository and all its resources from the sever and not just from remove from the list)
*Copy the repository files to the new path on the shared drive (make sure it has all the required read and write privileges necessary).
*Edit the dbid.xml to reflect the new path location for the repository
*Restore the project within the SiteAdmin

Hope this helps in your relocation.
Dan
