Multiple editing QuickTest Professional tests at one time.

How do other people deal with editing a test script and referencing another test at the same time?

For example:

I have a large set of test scripts. I am currently trying to debug a test script "Order". Every test calls "Order" as the first thing it does. I open the test script "Order" which contains the global action "Order". When I edit this global action, save my changes, then I need to run the action so I have to open another test script to run this test script, it calls global action "Order", and for one reason or another global action "Order" fails. It turns out I need to make a change to global action "Order". I have to close the current test script and re-open my global action "Order" to edit it, save it, and then I have to re- re-open my test script, and run my test again. I have done that dozens of times in a day!

Are you aware of the QuickTest Script Editor?

The QuickTest Script Editor enables you to open and modify the scripts of multiple tests and function libraries, simultaneously. You can also create new function libraries. You can modify the script of a test, but you cannot create new tests, associate or remove associated function libraries, or change information such as existing test names, test settings, parametrization, or Data Table values.

For more information look at: HP QuickTest Professional User Guide > Working with Advanced Testing Features > Working with the QuickTest Script Editor.
