Hi,

I am migrating the projects from qc 9 to 10. Currently the DB is hosted on sql server 2005 and i am planning to host QC 10 on new db server SQL 2008. This migration is going to be step wise migration, each project a time.During this old qc server (QC 9) will be up and running and having addition of data. The end user sign off will be after the whole migration. I am stuck at following points:

1) During the complete migration phase there would be addition of data to old databases. can some one suggest me way around to incorporate this data to new database server after migration?(What I thought is restoring the old databases again to new sql server 2008)

2) I am having some projects as version enabled as well. So after migration and before go live, I am planning to copy old repository folder to QC-10 instance so that it can have latest user data. I am not sure if this will get me latest user data.

Please let me know your views on this.

Thanks

Hey shantanu,

I would not recommend this approach. You can really mess up Version Control enabled projects.

I would after a project is upgraded deactivate the project in 9 and have the users switch to 10. on a project by project basis. this maintains the step wise approach and eliminates the issues introduced in the other approach.
