Screen Captures Not being saved back to Test Plan
Question ID: 106751

If I execute a test case in the test lab, and insert screen shots, or change the steps during execution, when complete, I am asked if I would like to save the changes to the test planning area. If I say yes, the steps are saved, however, the screen shots on the existing or new steps I created are not. That would mean the test planning area would contain updated steps, but some old screen shots. Is this a known defect?

Hello. This behavior is displayed in all versions of ALM with the exception of 12.50, where it appears that HP has included this functionality. For all existing test steps, any screenshot(s) attached during test execution in Test Lab won't be saved back to Test Plan. Any screenshots attached to new test steps that are added during test execution through the Manual Runner in Test Lab will be saved back to Test Plan. Only the screenshot(s) attached to the new step added during the initial test execution in Test Lab will be saved back to Test Plan. All screenshot(s) taken on future runs will only be available in Test Lab. I have submitted an enhancement request with HP, and will update this post once I receive further information.

Update: HP advised that this is a known issue, and the QCCR can be viewed at the following url:
https://softwaresupport.hpe.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/document/LID/QCCR1J21093

The issue is reproducible in 11.52, 12.01, 12.20. However it is working as desired in ALM 12.50.

Their next step will be to create a Business Escalation on this QCCR number in order to get a fix on 11.52 version.

HP advised that the time frame and patch level of the release is unknown at this time.
