Script working in QTP but not QC

I have a QTP script and when I run the test from QTP itself, it works. It recoginzes the inserted checkpoint and passes the test. The checkpoint is a .Exist looking for an "Update Total" image that is generated when a tip is entered into a webedit box.

However, when entered into QC as a business component it fails. It seems to believe that the "Update Total" button is not being generated when it clearly is.

What may be the disconnect between the two?

We have already triple checked the object properties and even went as far as entering a Wait statement (which you should never do) to see if there was a lag painting the screen.

Any ideas would be grealty appreciated.

Does this happen on only one machine or does it happen on others? If it is one machine I would recommend clearing local user information and cache for QTP and try again.

I have experienced this situation a lot. We had a lot of issues getting QTP and QC to talk to each other and finally determined that we have to launch both QC and QTP by ''running as Admin''. Then, even though you are going to run the test via QC, you still need to go ahead and launch QTP in the above manner before running the script in QC. By running as Admin, QTP looks at the objects differently.

Nel, If you have to run as Admin then I would recommend checking the systems UAC setting. HP recommends turning UAC off if your IT department will allow it.
