Test instance for practice of upgrade to ALM 15? Do we need a new license, AutoPass?

We are planning an upgrade to ALM15 We want to set up a test environment to go through the upgrade process. I don\’t think we have licenses for test and need to understand licensing for this test, especially with the change to using AutoPass license manager.

First of all, for a "test" machine, you don't technically need an additional license (traditional file-based license). You could specify "evaluation" during install and use that license for 30 days. If you are not done with the "evaluation" in 30 days, you can use the same one as "prod" is using -- as long as it is just for "testing' the new ALM build functionality as compared to the old install. The "AutoPass" addition is a "technical preview", so is more for early adopters of it and sort of a trial, so it is NOT required. Marked as spam
