HP says that HP-ALM 11 is a 64 bit application, but we discovered the hard way that this is not the case. The core of HP-ALM 11 is actually a 32 bit application. Now we are in the process of upgrading to HP-ALM 11.52 and we are faced with the same dilemma…So I was wondering if any of these folks have been through this and if they know for sure if the application is truly a 64 bit application and not just wrapped in a 64 bit wrapper. Having this info correct, decides many keys things related to the infrastructure chosen for the application.

ALM 11.52 is supported to run on 64 bit systems, but it is, in fact, a 32 bit application. The 32 bit version of Internet Explorer needs to be used when accessing its web interface.
