ALM 15 Webrunner and Customized workflow?
Question ID: 109542

Hello,

We are currently utilizing customized workflow to populate fields we have determined as required (not necessarily marked as required in the system, but the workflow determines that upon defect creation).  We are investigating using the web runner for certain users but our concern is that customized workflow doesn’t apply to the web runner.  We can’t find any documentation that states either way.  Will webrunner utilize our customized workflow?

Thanks,

HomerJ

Hi HomerJ,

It would seem that the workflow would be utilized by the webrunner.  Through testing and verification with Microfocus, this is not the case.  The webrunner is designed to work outside of and not require the dektop client and manual runner and therefor at this time it bypasses some of their iinternal hooks.  The coding of it allows for a "light" operation situation and the internal workflow is avoided.  The way this is designed at this time doesn't utilize the custom workflow and if you are needing that then the recommendation is to use the manual runner as part of the desktop client.  They did say that at some point it may change to include customized workflow but if you need that you may submit an enhancement request so the developers can see that the need is desired and exists, otherwise it exists as a light alternative to the manual runner.
