We have a shared client machine that many users utilize to run the QC client. Lately, a few users have been reporting that when logged into QC via this machine, that attachment files cannot be viewed. They get a File Not Found error.

I can log in to the machine as an admin and do not have the issue. Attachments open just fine. This an older 32 XP machine, but it has worked fine in the past. No idea how long this issue has been going on. We got one report in and I asked if any others have the issue, and several said yes. Definitely seems to be an issue with this machine, but unsure of what to attempt to fix.

I would suggest uninstalling the client and reinstalling it, but doing so with a local admin account. As you mention it is shared resource, I would imagine an admin installed the QC client files in the past and gave shortcut links to each Users profile.

Have an admin log into the machine.

Next run the QC/ALM Uninstaller tool (can provide you a link for such if you do not have it) to remove the client install files.

Open IE (note for all, has to be 32 bit version of IE - iexplorer.exe) by right clicking any shortcut location and choosing ''Run as Administrator'' to open IE. I believe for XP, to do this you need to create a new shortcut to iexplorer.exe from the Program directory/folder on your C : drive. With this new shortcut, you can right click and select Run as Administrator.

Connect to your QC/ALM url and download the client files again. Once done, create a new shortcut to QC/ALM and push that to ALL Users. Have a non admin user login and access QC and see if the attachment issue is fixed.
