Could Not find Valid Java Machine during ALM 12.60 installation?

Hello,
Trying to upgrade my Test environment of ALM 12.55 to 12.60.
According to readme the instructions are to Uninstall 12.55
Follow full install for 12.60
I uninstall fine
I launch setup and it runs and then says in a pop up Error – Could not find a valid Java virtual machine to load…you may need to reinstall supported Java virtual machine.
When I installed 12.55 I had no issues
Did the uninstall cause a problem?
I see this is now part of the 12.60 install steps as part Full install…it is not part of 12.55…but I believe I am not even getting that far in the install.
Step 7 on page 92
The JDK/JRE Folder Selection page opens.
Browse to or enter the JDK or JRE folder path.
Note: You can download and install JDK or JRE from the following URL:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-
downloads-2133155.html.
Click Next.

What have I done wrong here, as it seems everything is done correctly. What am I missing?

Thanks,
HomerJ

Hi Homerj,
The JVM installation is no longer part of the installation process and installer starting in 12.60 (it was still in 12.55 hence the difference that you noticed), so you will need to download and install the JVM separately and prior to the installation of 12.60. It has been broken out of the installer by Microfocus and is now the responsibility of the installer to install as a prerequisite prior to the ALM 12.60 installation. It is part of what is new within this version. Whether this will be the standard from now on we haven't been told but it looks as though it might be the standard procedure forthcoming. You can use that link to download and install the JVM and then when you get to the step noted in the installation you will be able to navigate to the folder as detailed.

Hope this helps,
Dan
