Document Generator Error

The error message I am getting after trying to create a simple test plan happens to me and my employees for all projects. I am having to tell upper management I am unable to provide them with test plans for our customers.

Internet Explorer 11
OS: Windows 7
ALM version: 11.52 Patch 05

Steps:

1. User selects Document Generator from the tools drop down

2. User selects the following from the document generator GUI

– Requirements

– Test Plan

– Subject tree

– Test list

– Test Sets

– Test

– Runs

3. User clicks the Full Document and selects a location for file

4. The following error appears

"Cannot create file C:\\Users\\[username]\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\TD_80\\mercury(1)\\3dd79934\\DocGen\\TDMain.dot"

Private answer

The first think that I would try would be to remove the TD_80 folder and contents and have ALM recreate it the next time that you log on and retest.

1. Open File Explorer
2. In the location bar type ''%temp%''
3. Find the TD_80 folder and delete it
4. Open ALM and test

The next thing that I would test would be to make sure that you are using a supported version of MS Office
