Hello,

I am using an excel sheet with data I want to import into Tableau without creating a data connection.  Is there a way I can copy the data without connecting to the data source inside Tableau Desktop?

Regards,

Pradeep

Hi Pradeep,

You can quickly import data into Tableau by copying the data, in my example I have copied from an excel sheet columns A – E and rows 1 -13 and hitting the CTRL-C function (image1).  I opened my Tableau Desktop and used the CTRL-V function to paste the data (image2).  That is it.

You can now 1) rename your data source 2) extract your data and begin to create your visuals since Tableau has provided your first crosstab when you paste your data.

Happy Tableau-ing!
